Here you will find prolific viewing of Africa's most impressive wildlife’ including the Big 5, on morning and evening game drives in open Land Rovers and on bush walks. At Londolozi, the promise of a great African safari adventure and the warmest welcome await. Located approximately 500 km from Johannesburg, there is an airstrip in the vicinity for those who prefer to fly in.
Londolozi Private Game Reserve is a 16 000-hectare exclusive safari destination situated in the heart of the famous Sabi Sand Reserve on the western border of the Kruger National Park in South Africa. Meaning “protector of all living things” in Zulu, Londolozi is renowned for its progressive ecotourism practices, and is one of the most sought-after safari destinations in Africa.
Londolozi has earned an international reputation for its unmatched African wildlife experience, personalised service, superb safari accommodation and excellent relationships with its neighbouring communities – commended as such by Nelson Mandela, who visited the Reserve shortly after his release from prison.
With classic safari accommodation, Londolozi Private Game Reserve’s four private camps offer world-class sophistication and style in the African bush.
Acacia, marula and combretum trees dominate Londolozi’s mixed bush savannah habitat with tamboti and weeping boer bean on raised termite mound thickets. A narrow band of riverine forest lines the Sand River and its drainage lines. These wooded habitats provide ideal conditions for leopard, bushbuck and a variety of shade-loving birds. Kopjies (rocky outcrops) north of the Sand River support trees such as large-leaved rock fig and jacket-plum.
Londolozi Private Game Reserve boasts the best leopard viewing in Africa, superlative lion viewing, excellent bird watching with an abundance of raptors, owls and savannah birds, spotted hyena dens, the scenic Sand River and interpretive game drives led by expert rangers.
Londolozi Pioneer Camp:
The 3 private suites of the Pioneer Camp, the most secluded of Londolozi’s luxury camps, have superb river views and are ideal for private getaways. These suites and a bush home central area are the culmination of many years of design experience and allow the Camp to be converted into a private bush home for family groups. Memorabilia displayed from a past era recall the earlier days of Londolozi.
This intimate safari camp of 7 Chalets and 3 Superior Chalets welcomes you into the heart of the Londolozi experience. Set in the shade of ancient ebony and matumi trees, these enchanting Chalets repose along the banks of the Sand River. A thatched viewing deck suspended over the Sand River completes the tranquillity of your safari experience.
Three private suites offer the guest an extraordinary experience of true luxury in the wilds of Africa. Each suite with its large windows and doors opening directly onto the Sand River provides a seamless integration between lodge and nature. Nestling amongst granite boulders that flank the camp, your safari suite captures the raw essence of Africa with its fine palette of silver, charcoal and grey colours.
With magnificent riverine views, private swimming pools and timber decks, Varty Camp’s eight Chalets and two Superior Chalets offer the height of relaxation in tranquil surrounds. The camp, shaded by towering indigenous trees, has a down to earth feel with an emphasis on family heritage. Children always have a place at Varty Camp where they too can enjoy that unforgettable safari experience.
The Tree Camp’s six exclusive suites, each with a private swimming pool and romantic sala (outdoor deck), are examples of elegance and simplicity, a matchless showcase of African excellence. These sanctuaries embody the essence of Londolozi’s striving to capture the safari experience with timeless luxury.
